Special Operations

Overview

The Winter Garden Fire Rescue Department is committed to providing specialized emergency services that address the diverse needs of the community. The department's Special Operations Teams are composed of highly trained professionals equipped with the skills and tools necessary to handle complex and high-risk situations. These operations include Rope Rescue, Vehicle/Machinery Rescue, Rescue Swimmer, and EMS Bike Team Operations. 

Rope Rescue

Rope Rescue Operations are essential for rescues from high-angle and below-grade locations. The department's team of rope rescue technicians is trained in advanced rope systems, enabling them to safely and efficiently perform rescues from buildings, towers, embankments, and other difficult to access locations.

Vehicle/Machinery Rescue 

The Vehicle/Machinery Rescue team is equipped to respond to accidents involving vehicles or heavy machinery, where individuals may be trapped. These operations involve the extrication of people from vehicles, machinery, or other entanglements using hydraulic tools, cutting equipment, and stabilization techniques. The team works closely with medical personnel to ensure a coordinated and effective response in these critical situations, prioritizing the safety and well-being of those involved.

Rescue Swimmer 

Rescue Swimmer Operations are vital for responding to water-related emergencies. The department's rescue swimmers are specially trained in submersed water rescue techniques, allowing them to perform rescues in various aquatic environments, including lakes, ponds, and flood zones. Equipped with specialized gear and extensive training, the Rescue Swimmer team is ready to respond to incidents where swift action in the water is necessary to save lives.

EMS Bike Team 

The EMS Bike Team plays a critical role in enhancing the department's ability to provide rapid medical response during large events and in areas where traditional vehicles may have limited access. The bike team is composed of IPMBA certified medical personnel who are equipped to deliver immediate medical care and stabilize patients until additional resources arrive. The agility and mobility of the EMS bike team makes them an essential asset during community events, festivals, and other large gatherings in Winter Garden.
