Citizens Police Academy

Ever wonder what goes on inside your police department? Get your questions answered at the next Citizens Police Academy class! 

This is a free 9-week course meeting every Wednesday evening at the Winter Garden Police Department training room from 6 to 9 p.m. The classes are instructed by Winter Garden police officers and staff who will discuss such topics as: 

  • Crime preventionCitizens Police Academy Class 20
  • Criminal investigations
  • Defensive tactics
  • Drug identification
  • Special operations
  • Uniformed patrol
  • Many other interesting topics

Class participants can also go on a ride-along with an officer and take a tour of the Orange County Jail.

Upcoming Citizens Police Academy Information

9 week sessions:

  • March 4 – April 29, 2026 (make-up date, if needed: May 6)
  • August 12 – October 7, 2026 (make up date, if needed: October 14)

Wednesdays only:  6:00 – 9:00 p.m.

To participate, you must be at least 18 years old, be a resident or work in the City of Winter Garden, and not have a criminal record.
