Youth Programs
All programs are held at the Jessie Brock Community Center, 310 North Dillard Street, unless otherwise noted.
Kid’s Café
Come and hang out with the Recreation staff each day for an afternoon of fun and food! Kid’s Café is a unique, free dinner program designed for children of low-income families. The Kid’s Café program in Winter Garden is a joint program offered by the Orange County Community Action Division, the Second Harvest Food Bank and the City of Winter Garden.
Date: Weekly Monday through Thursday
Times: 3:30 – 5:00pm
Fees: Free to all children 18 & under
Place: Maxey Community Center, 830 Klondike Street
Middle School Dances
Come out each month and enjoy friends, music, games and prizes! Middle School Dances are fun, exciting and safe! Dances are supervised by Recreation staff and open to sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students only. Current school ID and dress code are required. Dances are limited to the first 250 participants.
Dates: Fridays – Jan. 27; Feb. 24; March 16; April 20; May 18
Times: 7:00 – 10:00pm
Fees: $5.00 per student
Music with Mar
Learn while making music! This preschool class uses music to enhance the main areas of development: cognitive, social, motor and language. All classes are multi-age and family friendly with no sessions to commit to. Interact with puppets, pinch bubbles, parade with instruments, hear a story, use sign language and move to the music.
Date: Thursdays
Times: 9:30 – 10:15am or 10:30 – 11:15am
Ages: 8 months – 5 years
Fees: $7.00 per family per class • $30.00 per five-class discount card
Creative Movement
This unique program introduces basic dance steps and movement through dance games and activities. Class focus is on creativity and self-expression while developing fine and gross motor skills. Advanced registration required.
Dates: Saturdays, January 28 – March 17
Saturdays, March 24 – May 19; no class on April 7
Times: 9:30 – 10:30am or 10:45 – 11:45am
Ages: 2 – 4 years
Fees: $60.00 City Resident • $65.00 Non-Resident per eight-week session
Let’s Play Guitar
Beginner and intermediate classes available. Learn to play folk, blues and pop standards from an experienced instructor. Class space is limited, advanced registration required. Acoustic guitar required.
Date: Classes available in 30-minute sessions between 9 – 11:30am & 5:00 – 7:00pm on Mondays, Tuesdays & Wednesdays beginning January 23, March 5 & April 16
Ages: 8 &older
Fee: $60.00 City Resident • $65.00 Non-Resident per six-week session
Special Olympics Young Athletes Program
Innovative sports play program incorporating gross and fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and movement. For young athletes with intellectual disabilities and their siblings ages 2 – 7 years. Class space is extremely limited. Advanced registration required.
Date: Thursdays, 24-week program
Time: 4:30 – 5:15pm
Fee: Free!
