Painting & Drawing

WG/PD102 INTRODUCTION TO DRAWING & PAINTING
Open to beginning students as an introduction to the fundamentals of art while sampling various drawing and painting techniques. Tuition includes most materials and supplies.
Dates: Two 8 week Thursday classes available:
Session 1 starts June 19

WG/PD119 INTRODUCTION TO OIL PAINTING
Learn techniques of paint handling, color mixing, mediums, glazing and toning through assignments and demonstrations.
Dates: Two 8 week Wednesday classes available:

WG/PD143 NEW! EXPLORING ABSTRACT PAINTING
In this class you will explore and paint with a contemporary approach. Through this course, you will experiment ways to give a unique and modern feel to a subject matter, while referencing some well know modern artists for inspiration.

Explore the classical world of watercolor and develop a firm grounding in traditional approaches and techniques.

WG/PD103 DRAWING I
Drawing I covers basic principles of drawing and composition.  Students will learn techniques of measuring angles and proportions to create accurate line drawings, techniques of shading to create light and volume, and principles of composition to create dynamic, engaging images.

WG/PH147 DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY I
Through instruction and assignments, students will learn and understand essential photography concepts such as exposure, composition, and lighting.

WG/PH148 DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY II
Through in depth assignments, field trips and reviews, students delve deeper into composition, lighting and special equipment. In class demonstrations on manipulating images for printing and posting on line are included. Prereq: Digital Photo I or similar experience.

WG/PH241 PHOTOGRAPHY III
Landscape, portraits and documentary photography themes are examined through lectures, slide presentations, assignments, critiques, and field trips. Designed for the visual and photographic growth of intermediate level students working in film or digital, color or black and white. Prerequisite: Photography II or similar experience.

WG/PH259 FIELD TRIP CLASS               
Each week the instructor will take students to various locations around Central Florida. Each field trip theme will exercise the student’s picture taking abilities. On weeks 3 and 6 there will be a critique of work done on the field trips.

About Our Instructors...

BEATRICE ATHANAS: A realistic painter of European landscapes, she was born in Germany and has traveled widely. Her work shows passion in the use of vibrant colors, brush stroke techniques and the light that reflects her mood towards the subject.

PATRICIA BYRON: A professional artist who has lived abroad, her inspiration and passion for the arts is due to her travels and love of nature. She has been an art instructor with Crealdé for over six years. Her artwork is on permanent display at the Cultural Arts Alliance and in private collections.

PRAYONG DEEYING: Received his BFA at Fine Art University, Thailand and his Master’s Degree in Painting from Northwestern State University, Louisiana. He taught art for 13 years and was employed for 20 years at Walt Disney World as a Senior Artist Prep.

BELINDA GLENNON: Joined the Crealdé faculty in 2002 where she teaches hand building and wheel throwing for adults and youth and is coordinator of the Young Artist Program. She holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Central Florida.

CAT HEMPEL: A Winter Garden resident with a bachelor’s degree in drawing and print making from UCF and an Associate Member of the Oil Painters of America.

MARK LEPOW: Received his photographic education at Daytona State College and is active in photographing community events throughout Winter Garden including 3k-5k runs, cycling, and triathlons.

TRISH O’DONNELL: A Winter Garden resident with a BA in Studio Art and Art Education, Trish currently teaches art at Montverde Academy. She loves drawing, painting and photography, and sharing in the creative experience with children of all ages.

PETER SCHREYER: Executive Director at Crealdé; international exhibition record, numerous awards and public art commissions; including four documentary projects in the Winter Garden and Lake Apopka area in the past 15 years. Named Arts Educator of the Year in 2009 by United Arts.

MICHAEL VAN GELDER: An Orlando area commercial photographer who specializes in documenting musical and entertainment events. His work has appeared in such publications as Music Entertainment Magazine. All Access Music Magazine, and Guitar Magazine.
