Adult Instructional Programs

All programs are held at the Jessie Brock Community Center, 310 North Dillard Street, unless otherwise noted.

Let’s Play Guitar
Beginner and advanced classes available.  Learn to play folk, blues and pop standards from our experienced instructor.  Class space is limited, advanced registration required.  Acoustic guitar required.
Date:  Classes available in 30-minute sessions between 9 - 11:30am and 5 - 7:30pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Fee:   $60 per six-week session

Quilting
Do hands-on projects and learn to quilt!  Take part in community projects, learn new techniques, and enjoy presentations from guest speakers.
Date:  2nd Monday of each month
Time: 6 - 9pm
Fee:   $3 per class

Sewing
Have you always wanted to be able to sew on a button or make your own clothes?  Simply bring your fabric and patterns and our experienced instructor will have you sewing like a professional in no time at all!

Quilting Adventures
Come out and see some amazing quilts!  Presented by the West Orange Quilt Club, the City of Winter Garden, and Nancy’s Quilt Shop, you will enjoy the work of area quilters and displays from four local quilt shops.  Quilt displays, door prizes, boutique, silent auction, quilt raffle, concessions and more!  Shuttle provided on Saturday from the Winter Garden Art Festival.

Horticulture

Sign Language
Learn the basics of American Sign Language!  Participants will practice the alphabet, finger spelling, numbers, common phrases, and one-on-one communication using basic sentences.

Food Preservation
Learn how to preserve and store your fresh foods and produce!  Register at least 10 days before the class at the Orange County Extension Office, 407-254-9217.

Theatre
Lights, Camera, Action!  Learn the basics of acting, creating commercials, hair and make-up, public speaking, playwriting skills and more.

Design and Make Your Own Children’s Book

Decorative Arts - Christmas Ornament
Get creative!  Participants will create three distinct handmade ornaments.  Materials and refreshments provided.  Advanced registration required.

How to Market Children’s Illustrations
Learn everything you need to know about the business of children’s publications.  This interactive class features a multi-media presentation about design, marketing, websites, publishing tips, and portfolio construction.  Participants are encouraged to bring their portfolio if they have one.  Advanced registration required.
