Winter Garden Magazine


Please be sure to register early to avoid class cancellation due to low enrollment or program closure due to maximum enrollment being met. All programs are held at the Jessie Brock Community Center, 310 North Dillard Street, unless otherwise noted.


Beginner Guitar Lessons
Individuals will learn proper hand positions, how to tune their guitar, strumming patterns, open chords, use of a pick, how to read chord charts and fundamentals of music. Students will be playing songs and studying guitar in a relaxed and fun atmosphere.

Date: Tuesdays or Thursdays beginning week of May 22 and July 10
Time: 6:30 – 7 pm or 7:10 – 7:40 pm
Fee: $72 City Resident / $90 Nonresident per 6 week session
(Six 30 minute lessons)


Creative Movement/Pre-Ballet
This unique program introduces basic dance ballet technique and movement through dance, games and song. Class focus is on gross motor skills, left/right, body awareness, ballet positions, and beginner ballet technique and language. Advanced registration required.

Date: Saturdays, May 5 – June 16
(No Class Memorial Day Weekend, 5/26)
Time: 10:30 – 11:30 am
Ages: 2 – 4 years
Fee: $70 City Resident / $75 Nonresident per six-week session


CPR Certification Heart Saver / AED Classes
Instruction provided by Rural/Metro Ambulance, in support of the communities served by the Winter Garden Fire Rescue Department. Register in advance by calling 407.405.8176. Preregistration is required.

Date: May 19 and July 21
Time: 9 am – 1 pm or 2 – 6 pm
Fee: Free!


Horticulture
Join Ed Thralls, Residential Horticulture and Master Gardener Coordinator for the Orange County Master Gardener Program, as he provides expertise in general education classes on urban horticulture. Advanced registration required by calling 407.254.9200.

Kid’s Café
Hang out with friends, make cool art projects, play games and eat healthy! Kid’s Café is a unique, free dinner program designed for children of low-income families and is a joint program offered by the City of Winter Garden, the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida and the Orange County Community Action Division.

Date: Weekly, Monday - Thursday
Time: 3 - 5 pm
Fee: FREE to children 18 & under

Mr. Froggy's Fitness Fun!
Come and Exercise with Mr. Froggy! 45 minutes of music and movement where families focus together on Fitness (Exercise, Nutrition, Hydration, Rest). Bring your water and get ready to move and have fun as a family!

Dates: June 4 - August 6
Except: June 25, July 16, July 31
Time: Mondays from 11:30 am - 12:15 pm
Ages: 3 - 7 years old (siblings welcome)
Fee: $10 per class per family
$40 for 5 classes per family
$70 for 10 classes per family


Music with Mar
Learn while making music! This preschool class uses music to enhance the main areas of development: cognitive, social, motor and language. All classes are multi-age and family friendly with no sessions to commit to. Interact with puppets, pinch bubbles, parade with instruments, hear a story, use sign language, and move to the music.

Dates: Mondays, 9:30 – 10:15 am or 10:30 – 11:15 am & first and third Tuesday of every month at 6:15 – 7 pm
Age: 8 months – 5 years
Fee: $10 per class per family
$40 per five-classes per family
$70 for 10 classes per family


Sewing
Have you always wanted to be able to sew on a button or make your own clothes? Now is the time to learn! Please bring your own fabric and patterns.
