Winter Gardens Future
Winter Garden

"Where the road starts
for your working vacation!"
The City of Winter Garden still has remnants of its booming citrus industry of the late 1880's and early 1900's. Still thriving are citrus companies such as Heller Brothers and Louis Dreyfus Citrus, Inc. Winter Garden's rich history remains strong and includes a high quality of life, logistical advantages, and regional workforce. Downtown Revitalization
During the 1990's, the City received its Main Street designation and started improvements to revitalize its downtown. In early 2000, a $4.5 million dollar downtown revitalization spurred significant private investment, the first new construction in many years and a significant increase in property values. As a result, Downtown Winter Garden is an eclectic mix of specialty retail, unique restaurants and an emerging office market.
Downtown remains a hot spot for redevelopment potential. The Downtown core will continue to see an increase in private investment for the redevelopment and revitalization of its existing historic structures, such as the 317-seat Garden Theatre and the revitalization of the three-story, 1927 Landmark, Edgewater Hotel. The City is also proud to announce the construction of a 9,600 square foot building next to Downtown Brown's. The new building will add a restaurant and office space to our unique mix of uses in Downtown.
Neighborhood Development
As with most cities in the Orlando Metropolitan Statistical area, Winter Garden is experiencing substantial growth in it's housing market. In the next five to ten years the City is expected to increase its residential population by 40%. According to the U.S. Census, the population will have doubled by 2020.
The boundary between the Town of Oakland and the City of Winter Garden includes a 258-acre tract of land that will soon be known as Oakland Park . The newest residential development will include more than 74 acres of parks and preserved wetlands connected to walkways and trails. At build-out, Oakland Park will include five distinct neighborhoods that promote social interaction through the use of amenities such as a full service marina, community pool, village green and restaurant.
Retail Development

As growth in housing continues, the retail market continues to chase households. A $120 million dollar regional shopping complex known as Winter Garden Village at Fowler Groves is currently under construction. Fowler Groves will include major anchors such as a Super Target and Lowes, a “main street” area comprised of smaller retail stores and outparcels such as banks, and restaurants.
