Acting Lessons |

Lessons include instruction on auditions, headshots, improvisation, monologue and scene script. Classes are offered to all interested participants of all ages and run in six week sessions. Cartooning, Manga and Animation |
This course will cover learning the basics of drawing in the styles used by comic book, graphic novel, Japanese manga and animation illustrators. Students will learn the basic principles behind sequential storytelling, anatomy, perspective and framing. Students will work in graphic pencils as well as varied inking techniques. Students will also learn about the varied styles of comic book, manga and animation art and will have an opportunity to work in over ten different styles throughout the course. This will be an ongoing course with themed weeks that will rotate as we work through the course.
This course is only for teens and adults. Due to the intense themes and subject material often found in graphic novels and manga, younger students will be permitted only with instructor approval and parental consent. The course is considered PG-13.

Fencing |
Fencing is now being offered by the Winter Garden Recreation Department through a partnership with Salle Des Chevaliers de Winter Garden. Take a stab at something new and be the talk of the town! You will be sure to test your agility, coordination, footwork and bladework with this extraordinary sport! Classes are offered to all ages from youth to adult & skill levels from beginner to advanced students. For more information please contact the Recreation Office.

Holiday Camps
Winter Garden Parks and Recreation Holiday Camps are a great way to keep the kids busy during school holidays! We offer a variety of activities from arts & crafts, sports and games to field trips and guest speakers. Holiday Camps are a great way to reconnect with old friends and share time with your favorite camp counselors! Campers must bring a packed lunch, snacks and a water bottle to camp everyday. Campers are not permitted to bring any type of electronic device to camp such as iPods, handheld gaming devices, cell phones, digital cameras, Webkins, etc. Campers must wear tennis shoes.

Kids Cafe |
Kid’s Café is a daily meal program run through the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida for children of low income households that are under 18 years old. The Kid’s Café program in Winter Garden is a joint effort between the Orange County Community Action Division, the Second Harvest Food Bank and the City of Winter Garden. During Kid’s Café the children are served a hot meal and given enriching activities including computer lessons, arts & crafts, homework help & recreation activities. The Kid’s Café program is a place for children to foster safe, healthy relationships with each other, eat a good meal and have FUN!

Life Casting |
Learn to make perfect replicas of your face, hands, feet, or any other body part for that matter! Students will learn about the history of life casting in art as well as the techniques needed to produce a high quality replica of their hand/foot and face/whole head. Students will learn about casting materials as well as mold making techniques. There are a variety of techniques that can be utilized to produce a life cast. Students are expected to provide their own materials and instructor guidance will be provided to accommodate financial requirements. Materials pricing is subject to availability and student preference. A suggested material list will be provided for each student before the beginning of the first class.

Life Drawing Juniors |
This class covers the same principles as the adult class but is aimed and themed for younger students. The themes will vary and will be designed to capture the interest of younger artists. Techniques include but are not limited to shape and form rendering, perspective, foreshortening, shading techniques, how to draw clothing and basic anatomy. Students are responsible for providing their own materials for this course. Recommended materials include:
- a newsprint sketch pad
- charcoal sets
- gum eraser
- oil pastels
- ink pen (preferably a roller ball type)
Estimated cost for materials is about $35 for all supplies needed; cost may vary depending upon supplier and student preference.

Mommy and Me Sculpture |
Fun for the little ones! Mom or Dad, along with their child, will produce several clay souvenirs to take home from the class. Each session will be themed, and the themes will change by season/holiday. Permanent theme projects include hand prints, foot prints, and decorated plates. Students work with an air drying compound which requires no kiln firing. Materials are included.
Note: Parents must accompany their child. Younger children are welcome; however, the fee is non-negotiable. Younger children may have difficulties with the projects. Fees for the class are for a parent and one child; additional children are $10 each with a limit of one adult per three children please.

Parent & Tot Tennis |
Parent & Tot Tennis is available to all parents interested in getting their tots up and moving! Lessons are a great way to spend time with other parents while at the same time teaching your child a great lifetime sport. A hands-on introduction to tennis for all pre-schoolers ages three to five. Parents will participate on court assisting the experienced instructor in teaching hand/eye coordination and basic tennis skills. Tennis shoes, water and patience are required! No experience necessary. Lessons are run for a six week session. Please call the Recreation Office for more information on days & times.

Games, sports, arts, crafts, swimming, field trips, theme days and much, much more! A great way to spend the summer and make lifelong friends! Winter Garden Parks & Recreation Summer Day Camp is an awesome experience for your school age child! Campers are guranteed to experience the outdoors, friends and FUN! A qualified, well-trained staff will provide a safe and outstanding summer for your child.
Summer Day Camp is held Monday through Friday for children ages 5* to 13 (*children must have completed Kindergarten). Campers are supervised with a minimum of a 1 to 15 counselor to camper ratio. All staff are pre-screened as required by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
Campers must bring a packed lunch, snacks and a water bottle to camp every day. Pre-registration in person is required for all camps. Open to Winter Garden residents only. Space is extremely limited. Limited scholarships are available upon request and with proof of Orange County Public Schools' free or reduced lunch.
Weeks: June 9, 16, 23 and 30*

The City of Winter Garden Recreation Department is now offering Pilates! Bring a friend or group to this class to learn how to unwind while exercising at the same time! The City of Winter Garden hosts three softball seasons a year including Fall, Polar Bear and Spring. The city's softball fields are regarded as some of the best in West Orange County.
