SR 429 Construction Commences in Winter Garden
The Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX) began construction activities on May 31, 2022, on SR 429 FROM TILDEN ROAD TO SOUTH OF FLORIDA’S TURNPIKE to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion.
This 3.6-mile SR 429 Capacity Improvements Project (Segment 1) will add a travel lane in each direction, expanding the expressway from four to six lanes (three travel lanes in each direction). In addition, wider median shoulders to temporarily accommodate traffic during emergency response events are also being added. Ten sound walls are also planned for this segment.
During construction, temporary lane and ramp closures will be necessary to accommodate work. Daytime operations, including pile driving, are scheduled 7 am-5 pm, while night work is scheduled 8:30 pm-6 am.
Due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances, work could be delayed. Motorists are urged to use caution in the construction area for their safety and that of the work crews.
The road closures are declared by the Central Florida Expressway Authority for the SR 429 Capacity Improvements from Tilden Road to SR 414 Project.
